Welcome, new Coyle Tech Band families!

We are so excited to have you join the COYLE BAND family! No matter what your musical background is, we have a place for your child in the Coyle Band. At the upcoming instrument fittings, we will help you decide which instrument best fits your child. Once we choose the instrument that fits your child the best, we will communicate this with our wonderful counselors to make sure the are put into the correct beginner class for next year.
How to join band?
Step 1: Select BAND as your elective choice on the "Choice of Subject" Form.
Step 2: Attend the Instrument Fitting on Saturday, May 10. In band, we believe the instrument chooses the student - not the other way around! During the instrument fitting, the new band member will meet 1-on-1 with a band director and have the opportunity to try out the different instruments to see how each instrument "fits". Our band staff is experienced and knowledgeable in helping select instruments considering factors such as shape of the lips, chin and dental structure to match each student with the best fit. For percussion, coordination skills are also a factor. Our goal is to find the instrument that suits each student's physical features while also offering the best opportunity for long-term success. Trust our experienced team to guide your child (and you) through this process!

Step 3: Once the instrument selections have been finalized after the "Instrument Fittings", all new band students will need to secure their instruments and/or supplies before the first day of school. We strongly recommend renting taking advantage of the "Rent-to-own" program, meaning you will eventually own the instrument. Rentals are available for Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, and Percussion. Instruments rented from the district (Oboe, Bassoon, French Horn, Euphonium, and Tuba) will have a yearly rental fee to help with maintenance. To guarantee accuracy and quality, we suggest obtaining an instrument from one of our recommended music stores. If you choose to get an instrument elsewhere, please contact us prior to purchasing so we can ensure that you are getting a good quality instrument that will last. We ask that you do not substitute any items without consulting the band staff.

Step 4: Have the BEST time EVER in band!
Please feel free to email your directors at any time with questions.
Thank you,
Mr. Chris Pineda
